Bhoja Shetty murder case trial begins

The District and Sessions Court started the trial inquiry into the murder of a teacher in Hebri, Bhoja Shetty, by the Maoists in 2008.

The accused Veeramani alias Eshwar from Coimbatore jail and Ramesh from Parappana Agrahar jail were produced before the court, while Neelaguli Padbhanabha and Pavagad Sanjeev Kumar, who were out on bail, were present in the court.

Public prosecutor Shanthibai and the counsel for the accused, Shantaram Shetty, argued on behalf of their respective clients. As many as 39 witnesses were inquired in the process. The judge held the inquiry of the seven witnesses out of ten on Monday. On June 5 and 6, 10, each witness will be inquired and on June 7, the remaining 9 will be interrogated by the court. The summons is issued to all the witnesses.

The victim Bhoja Shetty was killed by the Maoists on May 15, 2008, for allegedly being an informer of the police. The police have filed a charge sheet against the 11 accused.
