Congress candidate from Holenarasipur Assembly segment Manjegowda said on Monday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah suggested that he contest the elections and that he was following his advice.

In a press conference here, Manjegowda said, “When he was serving as Karnataka State Employees’ Association president, I had urged the CM to implement the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commision. Considering my request, the CM implemented the recommendations which helped 6.4 lakh government employees. After fulfilling my demand, the CM urged me to quit the job and contest from Holenarasipur.”

Manjegowda said he has toured the constituency and realised that the people are under threat. “The constituency has not been developed. The sitting MLA is collecting commission from the contractors,” he said.

“The Congress party workers will support me without any difference of opinion. I will get suggestions from the party leaders,” he said.

Sunil Kumar, Vannikoppal Manjegowda, Mahammed Pasha and Lakkur Basavaraju were present.
