Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer arrested on charges of sexual assault

The Koppa police have arrested Koppa Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer on the charges of an illicit affair and sexual assault.

The arrested is Jayaram. Based on the complaint by his wife’s sister, the police have filed a complaint.

In her complaint, she had accused the officer of sexually assaulting her with a promise to marry her.

She was staying in Jayaram’s house at Pavagada when she was studying at Madakashira in Andra Pradesh.

After she failed in the II PU exam, she had left for her native Kalyanadurga in Anantapura district of Andra Pradesh.

Further, she had said that she had “Gandharva marriage” with Jayaram at Dharmasthala. However, when she visited Jayaram’s house at Koppa in April, her sister threw her out of the house.

She has urged the police to initiate action against Jayaram and his wife Thimmakka for assaulting and cheating her. Thimmakka is absconding, said the police.
