<p>Mumbai: Journalist-turned-politician Kapil Patil, a former MLC who was associated with the Socialist movement, has joined the Congress. </p><p>Patil met Congress President <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/mallikarjun-kharge">Mallikarjun Kharge</a>, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, and joined the grand old party.</p><p>Patil may contest upcoming <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/maharashtra-assembly-elections-2024">assembly polls</a> from Mumbai.</p><p>“All progressive forces need to come together to fight against Nathurami-Fascism. However, he left the JD (U) and formed the Samajwadi Ganrajya Party.
