Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Kharge accuses Adani of interfering in state politics

Kalaburagi: Expressing displeasure against entrepreneur Gautam Adani, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the chairman of Adani Group has been supporting reactionary and regressive governments.

Addressing press persons here on Thursday, Kharge said that the billionaire businessman does not want political parties to function on principles and ideology.

Accusing Gautam Adami of looting the wealth of the nation, the Congress leader said that the industrialist is interfering in Maharashtra politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are conducting elections with funds from capitalists like Adani. 

“The people question us what we will give to their states when we go for election campaign in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The BJP repeatedly talks about the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir. The Modi government has no answers regarding GST shares given to the states, agricultural equipment for farmers or minimum support prices for crops. Our party has promised to provide guarantees if we come to power,” Kharge said.

Responding to a question, Kharge said that the BJP has not accepted the Constitution and the tricolor.

They have burnt a copy of the Constitution at Ramlila Maidan, he charged. Stating that BJP is giving importance to religion-based politics and resorting to appease people on the basis of religion, he said that the response from the people to Congress party has been encouraging during campaign of assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
