It has been billed as a clean and cheery romantic family flick. Well, with Paidipally preoccupied more with projecting NTR Jr as the man of the masses, Brindaavanam is not one’s Eden of entertainment. With melodrama and comedy chock-a-block, Paidipally tries to have his audiences eating out of his hand. However, Brindaavanam, with a lot to be desired on all fronts — script, story and narration, turns a damp squib.

While first half runs on predictable lines with few action sequences, the second sags under the weight of sentiment, action and family melodrama. Tailored to T, NTR Jr revels in his larger-than-life role.

Samantha is totally miscast, while Kajal Agarwal is so-so. Prakash Raj and Srihari pass muster as step brothers.

As for Brindaavanam, it’s a love lore where lovers switch beaus so that one of the lasses can pursue her studies and also have her betrothal cancelled. How the tangle gets sorted out forms the gist of the sloppy saga.
