"This film is my dream debut and will surely bring in recognition for me. It would also increase visibility of my band (Shaa'ir n Func) and myself as a musician. After all, everyone intends to grow bigger," Monica told PTI.

Directed by Kiran Rao, 'Dhobi Ghat' stars Aamir, Prateik Babbar and Kriti Malhotra.
On her role, Monica said, "I play the character of Shai, a banker. She is an NRI from New York and comes to Mumbai to rediscover the city. She puts her life on hold to explore her passion for photography. She ends up meeting these characters played by Prateik and Aamir and gets to learn a lot of things about herself."

About her much-talked-about kissing scene with Aamir, the singer-turned-actress said, "I am neither confirming it nor denying it...just wait for the film to release."

In the film, Aamir plays the character of a reclusive painter, Prateik is a washerboy and there are two lead heroines, Monica and Kriti Malhotra. The movie is about these four characters from different classes of society and how their lives are intertwined.

The debutante said that working with Aamir in the film was like "icing on the cake"."Initially I had no idea that Aamir was in the film. I accepted the film because I loved my role. When I came to know that Aamir was in the film it was a double bonanza for me. This is a dream debut...I couldn't have asked for anything better."

Monica, who is both excited and nervous about her debut film, says Aamir is a very talented and down-to-earth person while his wife Kiran is "one of the most intelligent persons" in the industry. The film will hit cinema houses on January 21.
