Hollywood icon Jane Fonda will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at documentary filmmaker Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival.

The filmmaker will present the award to the actor-activist during the 14th edition of the festival, which is set to run July 31 to August 5 in Traverse City, Michigan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I can think of no other artiste who has given more to her country. What an honour for our festival audience to welcome and to be inspired by the work of this American icon. Her voice is as needed today as much as ever," Moore said.

The filmmaker will personally host the actor and the festival will screen nearly 100 of her films.

Besides her work in films such as "Period of Adjustment" (1962), "Sunday in New York" (1963), "Barefoot in the Park" (1967), "The China Syndrome" (1979), "Monster-in-Law" (2005) among others, Fonda has a lifelong commitment to a number of social causes for women and children.

She also went on to win two best actress Oscars for "Klute" (1971) and "Coming Home" (1978), respectively.

The actor will also be bestowed with a career honour at this year's Lumiere Film Festival on October 19.
