The Lead: Author K Hari Kumar on 'India's Most Haunted' and the horror genre

K Hari Kumar, author of novels like "When Strangers Meet", "That Frequent Visitor", "The Other Side of Her" and "India's Most Haunted" and the one who has penned the screenplay for the series Bhram, talks about the Horror genre, dark tourism and more.

Ahmed Shariff: Horror! a genre that excites and brings us close to the unknown. It delves deep into our fears and inhibitions and brings to the fore the myths, legends and that dark shade of our creative genius.

Today to talk about this genre we are joined by the author of novels like "When Strangers Meet", "That Frequent Visitor", "The Other Side of Her" and "India's Most Haunted" and the one who has penned the screenplay for the series Bhram, K Hari Kumar. Hi, Hari and welcome to DH Radio.

Hari Kumar: Thank you for having me on DH Radio.

Ahmed: It's great to have you on our show. Hari, my first question to you is: What made you choose horror as your writing genre? What is it about the genre that gets you excited and gets you going?

Hari: I grew up in the 90s and feasted on Scooby-Do cartoons, 'Real Ghostbusters' and R L Stine's 'Goosebumps', apart from these there were these periodicals like 'Chandamama' and 'Children's Digest' with had plenty of hair-raising ghost stuff. There was plenty of mythological horror in 'Chandamama' like stories of 'Vikram and Betal' with eerie pictures in the magazine. All those things fascinated me...
