Youtuber Ranveer Allahbadia's offensive question at Samay Raina's show draws ire

Famous YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia best known by his channel name - BeerBiceps has landed himself in a controversy after his question at Samay Raina's India's Got Latent show went viral on social media.

Allahbadia asked a vulgar question to a contestant on the show which drew applause and hoots from the audience and fellow judges featuring Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Mukhija(Rebel Kid).

Allahbadia's question drew ire on social media with journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra calling the panel of the show "perverted creators who are shaping our country’s creative economy".

"This content is not designated as adult content — it can be seen with ease even by a child if the algorithm takes him or her there. The creators or the platform have zero sense of responsibility," he wrote on X, expressing his shock at the laughter Allahabadia's question drew.

"You, the audience, normalised and celebrated this and people like these," he wrote, opining that decency is not incentivised in India. Calling out creators for stooping lower and lower for audience reach and revenue, he claimed that they could say anything in the name of freedom of speech and get away with it.

Reposting his tweet, Congress' Supriya Shrinate wrote on X: "This isn’t creative. It’s pervert. And we can’t normalise perverse behaviour as cool. The fact that this sick comment met loud applause must worry us all."

Ranveer Allahbadia was among those who received an award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the first-ever National Creators' Awards at the Bharat Mandapam. The Prime Minister had suggested that Ranveer should create awareness about sleep deprivation and mentioned that he is not disciplined about it, sleeping only for a few hours everyday.

Allahbadia is best known for his podcast where he often divulges into questions about Hinduism, faith, religion, spirituality life, death, and after-life.

Meanwhile, Samay Raina is not new to controversies and had made headlines after his roast of actor Kusha Kapila targeting her and Zorawar's divorce.
