Veshabendra Swamy Grama Samithi president Basavarajappa has opposed the inclusion of Giriyapura village into the newly carved Ajjampura taluk.

Giriyapura village was part of Kadur taluk in the past. The officials had not visited the spot to collect public opinion on including villages to Ajjampura taluk. The officials have included Giriyapura village in Ajjampura taluk by furnishing wrong information and have submitted a report to the chief secretary, which is condemnable, he said.

The villagers of Giriyapura own their land in neighbouring Hirenalluru -Kedigere-M Chomanahalli, Melanahalli, Aadigere, Basooru, Arehalli. The documents of the land owned by the villagers are available in Nadakacheri at Hirenalluru situated one kilometre away from the village. If Giriyapura village is included in Ajjampura taluk, then residents have to travel 10-km to reach Ajjampura to avail any documents related to the land, he added.

The villagers have already written to the chief minister, revenue minister, district in-charge minister, Legislative Council deputy chairman and other officials, opposing the inclusion of the village in Ajjampura taluk.
