<p>Mumbai: The escalating military and diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan have impacted the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/flights">flight</a> schedules, with over two dozen airports being shut and over 400 flights cancelled, even as the airliners asked passengers to report to airports three hours ahead of departure because of strict security protocols. </p><p>The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) have asked all the airports and airlines to enhance security arrangements in the wake of the developing geopolitical situation.</p><p>Amid the ongoing Operation Sindoor, security was significantly beefed up at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, which are among the busiest airports in the whole of Asia. </p><p>FlightRadar24, a global flight tracking service, reflects that the airspace over India's western corridor - from Kashmir to Gujarat - and Pakistan has largely been free of civilian aircraft on Thursday because of the anti-terror operations. </p><p>At least four private airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet, have issued airport advisories asking passengers to report around three hours in advance in the wake of the security arrangements. </p><p>“Delhi airport operations remain normal. However, due to evolving airspace conditions and heightened security measures, some flight schedules and security processing timings may be impacted," the Delhi Airport said. </p><p>“In view of enhanced security measures, passengers may experience longer wait times at the airport. We recommend arriving well in advance to ensure a smooth travel experience,” the Mumbai airport said. </p>.Enhanced security measures in place at airports; operations normal.<p>Air India, which posted the travel advisories on social media platforms, said that passengers are asked to arrive three hours in advance, while the check-in will close 75 minutes before departure.</p><p>"In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. The check-in closes 75 mins before departure,” Air India posted on X. </p><p>The Akasa Air also issued a similar advisory. “Due to enhanced security measures at all airports across India, we request you to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure, to ensure a seamless check-in and boarding experience. Please ensure you carry valid government-approved photo identification documents for entry to the airport,” Akasa Air said, noting: “In addition to your check-in baggage, only 1 handbag weighing up to 7 kgs will be permitted. As per regulatory guidelines, all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks prior to boarding.”</p><p>IndiGo, in its message to passengers, said: “In these extraordinary times, heightened security measures are being taken up across all airports. We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”</p><p>In its request, SpiceJet said: “We request all our passengers to reach the airport at least 3 hours before departure, as per BCAS guidelines, to ensure timely security checks and boarding.”</p><p>The international airliners are also rescheduling flights and have focused on repatriation flights.</p><p>According to the latest reports, around 27 airports in various parts of the country were closed in the wake of Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir on Wednesday in retaliation for the Pahalgam terrorist attack on tourists.</p>
