<p>A total of 518 cadets became officers of the Indian Army, while 12 others joined paramilitary force Assam Rifles. Four cadets who passed out today are from neighbouring country Bhutan.<br /><br />The maximum number of officers passing out this time was from Uttar Pradesh at 102 followed by Uttarakhand with 58 and Haryana with 47.<br /><br />Earlier, Gen Singh inspected a guard of honour by the cadets as army helicopters showered petals from the sky following which the pipping ceremony was held.<br /><br />It was a proud moment for Gajender Kumawat, who received the coveted Sword of Honour for being the best all-round cadet. Kumawat, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, is the first person in his family to join the Indian Army.<br /><br />Jaidev Dangi was awarded the gold medal for standing first in the order of merit in the regular course.<br /><br />Starting from its first batch of 40 cadets, the IMA has so far trained a total of 50,475 officers for the Indian Army.</p>
