8 samples tested negative; no new cases of coronavirus: Tamil Nadu Health Ministry

Eight people, who were quarantined, have been tested negative for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu even as a 15-year-old boy, who arrived from Texas a few days ago and isolated at a government hospital, was discharged on Tuesday.

Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar said the eight people who tested negative include seven persons who came in contact with the only patient tested positive for the virus in the state. He also made it clear that there was only one patient who tested positive for the Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu and there are no fresh cases in the past few days.

“Let me share good news, 8 samples that were in process for #Covid19 is tested NEGATIVE. This includes seven samples of close contacts of the patient at @RGGH,” Vijayabhaskar wrote on his Twitter page.

The samples belonged to those who travelled with the affected man, currently undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and his family members.

The 15-year-old boy was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday evening but will be under the surveillance of the health department. Meanwhile, the lone patient who tested positive for the virus was “doing well” and doctors said he will be discharged in a few days.
