9 luxurycars in illegal race seized in Chennai

Acting on a tip-off, the Tamil Nadu Police seized nine luxury cars for reportedly taking part in an illegal race on the East Coast Road (ECR) here.

Police sources here on Sunday said drivers were detained and they were booked for overspeeding.

Following complaints that illegal races during weekends are on the rise on the East Coast Road, a search was conducted at Uthandi toll gate on Saturday night. It was found that the luxury cars involved in the race posed  a threat to commuters and other motorists on the ECR.
