<p class="title">The Supreme Court on Monday admitted for consideration an appeal filed by the CBI, against the acquittal of dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the 2008 twin murder case of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in Noida, bordering Delhi.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Navin Sinha and K M Joseph granted leave in the case, which had triggered sensation across the country for its twists and turns.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The matter was first probed by the Uttar Pradesh Police, which accused the Talwars of the murder, but the CBI that subsequently investigated the case, filed a closure report citing lack of sufficient evidence.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A CBI court at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh had sentenced the Talwars to life imprisonment on November 26, 2013, in connection with the case.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Allahabad High Court had on October 12, 2017, acquitted the couple.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The high court had exonerated them saying they could not be held guilty on the basis of the evidence on record.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found dead inside her room in the Talwars' Noida residence with her throat slit in May 2008.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The needle of suspicion had initially moved towards 45- year-old Hemraj, who had gone missing but his body was recovered from the terrace of the house two days later.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The court had earlier in March this year admitted a similar plea filed by Khumkala Banjade, wife of Hemraj for consideration. The court had then called for the original records of the case.</p>
