<p>A fake doctor who has performed about 50 cesarean sections, also known as C-sections was arrested from an operation theatre in Assam, a <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/pulok-malakar-assams-munna-bhai-mbbs-who-performed-over-50-c-sections-arrested-from-silchar-9021879">report </a>by <em>NDTV</em> said. </p><p>Pulok Malakar, a resident of Assam's Sribhumiwas, was a known "gynaecologist" and performed surgeries for over a decade at two private hospitals in Silchar.</p><p>Malakar had performed several gynaecological surgeries in his career and was performing another caesarean section when he was arrested. </p><p>Senior police officer Numal Mahatta said, "We got information about him and started an investigation. After verification of all the documents, we found that all his certificates are fake. He was a fake medical practitioner and was running the business for many years."</p><p>Malakar was produced before a local court on Monday and remanded in police custody for five days. </p>.Assam govt setting up portal for indigenous people to apply for arms license: Himanta.<p>The Assam government has launched a massive crackdown against fake doctors and quacks. A special unit formed by the government, which works in close coordination with the state police has filed so far more than 10 cases against fake doctors. </p><p>In a similar development, a fake cardiologist from Madhya Pradesh made the headlines for performing unauthorised surgeries on patients. </p><p>Narendra Yadav, alias Narendra John Camm, the alleged fake heart specialist was arrested over the death of seven patients after botched surgeries at a hospital in Damoh in MP.</p><p>He was later arrested by the Chhattisgarh police from a Madhya Pradesh jail over the death of former assembly speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla. </p><p>Yadav had operated upon Shukla at a private hospital here in 2006, following which the ex-speaker died, said police.</p><p>Police have found Yadav's degree to be fake, and his registration with the Indian Medical Council/Chhattisgarh Medical Council has not been traced yet.</p><p><em>(With PTI inputs)</em></p>
