<p>Guwahati: The death toll due to flood and landslides in Assam increased to 21 with two new deaths reported from South Assam in the past 24-hours, where the situation remained still grim on Thursday. </p><p>The daily flood bulletin issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reflected slight improvement in overall flood situation. But at least seven rivers including the Brahmaputra and the Barak were still flowing above the danger levels. </p><p>The bulletin said over 5.6 lakh people still remained affected in 19 districts, out of 35 across Assam on Thursday. The number was over 6.7 lakh on Wednesday. The number of affected villages also decreased in the past 24-hours---from 1,494 to 1,433. This prompted several schools to shut doors keeping in mind safety of the students.</p><p>The overall flood situation in Imphal Valley of Manipur also slightly improved on Thursday.
