<p>Several City schools have recorded cent per cent results in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class XII examinations, the results for which were announced across the country on Saturday.<br /> <br /></p>.<p>A big proportion of students came out in flying colours, with one of the City ICSE toppers, Bhargav Ramakrishna Reddy of Bethany High School, Koramangala, securing 97.28 per cent marks. <br /><br />Karun Mathew Verghese, a student of Clarence High School, Richards Town, was among the toppers in the City for ISC, securing 97 per cent marks. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) announced in New Delhi that the results are slightly better than last year. “Girls have done better than boys again, as in the past several years. The pass percentage in ICSE stands at 99.27 per cent, up by 0.55 per cent and for ISC, it is 98.59 per cent, which is up by 0.18 per cent compared to last year,” said Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary, CISCE.<br /><br />Bhargav Ramakrishna Reddy told Deccan Herald that his preparation has been consistent with a minimum of three hours study every day. He had also started early, preparing for the IIT-JEE exams. “I don’t think IIT preparation is beyond a high school student. I found it refreshing and it added to my understanding of concepts taught from the textbook,” said the topper. <br /><br />He aspires to be a mechanical engineer and wants to pursue higher studies at IIT-Chennai. Close behind him is Aishwarya Rajan from St Thomas Public School who has secured 97.14 per cent. <br /><br />Aishwarya has had time for sports and quiz despite hectic preparations for the exams. Like any high achiever, she completely attributes her success to planned preparation from the start. Managing studies and extra curricular activities seems to have worked the magic for these toppers. <br /><br />Extra curricular activities<br /><br />The ISC class XII exam topper in the city, Karun Mathew Verghese from Clarence High School says his extra curricular activities made him sharper and gave the extra push in preparation. The student has secured 97 per cent. He had opted for PCME. <br /><br />Karun managed to put in six hours of study every day apart from sparing time for practising music and dramatics. “I took my co-curricular activities seriously. It kept my mind healthy and helped in my preparation,” says the student who wants to pursue electrical engineering. He has scored a centum in Physics. <br /><br />Another student with a high score in the ISC exam is Tanmayee Narendra, a science student from Bethany High School has achieved 94 per cent. Inspired by Physicist Richard Feynman, Tanmayee is all set to pursue pure science. “I know it is not a popular choice and many have been advising me against it. Yet, one must follow one’s heart and pure science delights me,” she said. <br /></p>
