News Highlights: Violence reported in Manipur; police uses tear gas shells to control violent mob

Fresh violence was reported late Thursday evening in Manipur as police used tear gas shells to control a violent mob that gathered in Imphal. Earlier on Thursday, the death toll in the Odisha train accident mounted to 293 as one more person succumbed to injuries. In a rare move, the Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi dismissed Minister V Senthil Balaji from the Council of Ministers without consulting the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the death toll in the Assam floods rose to 11 on Thursday as four more persons died in North Guwahati. 38,000 still remain affected.
