Cases slapped on Digvijaya for defaming cops

Cases were on Thursday booked against AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh for his tweets accusing the Telangana Police of encouraging Muslim youth to join ISIS.

Based on a complaint filed by Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislator M Gopinath three days ago, the Banjara Hills police booked cases against Singh, who is Telugu states in-charge, under IPC Sections 501 and 505 for printing defamatory matter and provoking breach of peace.

Following this, state Home Minister Narasimha Reddy demanded an apology from Singh, saying he had intentionally degraded the Telangana Police, considered one of the best in the country.
