Congress puts up posters of 'corrupt, deshdrohi' Sisodia-Jain behind bars

The posters spotted outside AICC and Delhi Congress offices feature a remark by Arvind Kejriwal.

The Congress on Monday stepped up its attack against the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by putting up posters in the national capital of "corrupt" Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain.

With the images of Sisodia and Jain behind the bars, the posters issued by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee said the corrupt are now jailed. The posters spotted outside AICC and Delhi Congress offices also featured an earlier a remark by Arvind Kejriwal: "Those who are corrupt are traitors."

The posters came a day after eight parties wrote a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the "misuse" of central agencies, while protesting against the arrest of Sisodia in Delhi excise policy case. Congress, DMK, CPI(M), CPI and JD(U) among others did not sign the letter.

The Congress has so far not publicly condemned the arrest of Sisodia. However, Party General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh had pointed out the Congress's stand on institutions like ED, CBI and Income Tax Dept becoming "instruments of political vendetta".

"Congress has always held the belief that institutions like ED, CBI and Income Tax Dept have become instruments of political vendetta and harassment under Modi Sarkar. These institutions have lost all professionalism. Opposition leaders are selectively targeted to destroy their reputation," Jairam tweeted.

Though the AAP and the Congress among others had signed a joint letter on misuse of agencies earlier, both the parties were at loggerheads.

Congress leaders said they cannot support Sisodia on the excise policy case as their party was the first to file a complaint against him and others.

Sisodia was arrested on February 26 by the CBI and has now been sent to 14 day judicial custody. Jain, who was arrested in a money laundering case in May last year, has been lodged in Tihar Jail.
