Delhi: ISI sleeper cell network busted, 2 agents arrested after 3-month secret op

The Delhi police, in a secret operation carried out from January to March 2025, busted a network of ISI sleeper cells with the arrest of two ISI agents, ANI reported.

The agencies with Delhi Police arrested two agents, including a Nepali-origin ISI agent, Ansarul Mian Ansari. Several classified documents related to the forces were recovered from his possession.

Ansarul Mian Ansari, the Nepali arrested from a hotel in Delhi, revealed that he used to drive a cab in Qatar, where he met an ISI handler. Later, Ansarul was taken to Pakistan, where he was trained by top ISI officials for several days, and then sent to Delhi via Nepal, the news agency added.

The Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in May, and both the arrested ISI agents are lodged in Tihar jail.

This comes amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack, with both sides having resorted to military action.

While a ceasefire is in place now, India has cracked down on Pakistani presence in the country, which has led to the unearthing of several ISI agents, or individuals linked to Pakistan's spy agency -- the most prominent being Haryana social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra.
