Engineer arrested for raping friend

A 22-year-old fashion designing student was allegedly raped by her engineer friend in a hotel in south Delhi's Safdarjung area, police said today.

Accused Vaibhav Jain (27) was arrested last night from his residence in Karol Bagh, police said.

The girl had allegedly accompanied Jain to Nehru Place on Friday where he offered her sedative-laced cold drink.

After she fell unconscious, Jain took her to the hotel and raped her, they said.

"A case was registered and Jain, an engineer with a private company in Delhi, was arrested after the victim's medical report confirmed rape," police said.

He has been sent to judicial custody, they added.
