<p>Sundaram Sankaran, who worked at the World Bank for over 25 years and served as the US correspondent for Indian dailies, has died. He was 87.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Sankaran joined the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC in 1962 as a writer in the Office of Information and retired in 1988 as Chief of the Bank's Public Affairs Division.<br /><br />He successively worked as the US Correspondent for The Business Standard and The Economic Times after his retirement.<br /><br />He began his journalistic career in 1950 with PTI.<br /><br />Sankaran passed away on July 19 at his house in Kensington Maryland; a suburb of Washington DC, his daughter Prabha Carpenter told PTI.<br /><br />He is survived by his wife Seetha, their four children and one great grandchild.</p>
