Govt to roll out new system for construction activities

Aiming to streamline the process of approvals from various departments and authorities for construction activities in urban areas including, housing, metro rail and other infrastructure, the centre is working on to roll out new system by the end of this year.

Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, who chaired a high-level meeting with officials of the ministries including environment and forests, civil aviation, defence and culture, on Tuesday,  asked them them to work towards rolling out new system by end of this year.

Naidu reviewed the progress made by various ministries to enhance the ease of doing business for construction and housing projects in urban areas with respect to implementation of new urban sector initiatives like Housing for All, Smart City Mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

It was decided in the meeting that the ongoing efforts will be completed and necessary notifications issued by the end of this year to enable urban local bodies to accord approvals in a specified time period.
