Haryana land deal: Robert Vadra appears before ED on 3rd day

New Delhi: Robert Vadra, husband of senior Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was on Thursday questioned for the third consecutive day by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering probe linked to a Haryana land deal, amid indications that the agency is preparing to file chargesheets in three cases being investigated against him.

Vadra was quizzed for about five hours. So far, he has been questioned for around 15 hours in the past three hours in connection with the deal involving 3.5 acre land in Shikohpur from Onkareshwar Properties at Rs 7.5 crore and later selling it to  realty major DLF for Rs 58 crore within months.

The brother-in-law of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, he is being investigated in three money laundering cases and the ED officials indicated that they would file chargesheets in all cases soon.

Besides the Shikohpur land deal, Vadra is also accused in a land deal in Bikaner in Rajasthan as well as a money laundering probe against UK-based arms consultant Sanjay Bhandari and his purported links with him. Vadra has denied any wrongdoing.

Vadra described the latest ED as "political vendetta" against him.

BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia told reporters, "Robert Vadra feels that he is above the law of the country. He doesn't realise that this is an honest government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under which the investigative agencies are no longer caged parrots."
