The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Friday said it has sent a defamation notice worth Rs 100 crore to environmentalist and BJP MP Maneka Gandhi for “levelling completely unfounded allegations” against the organisation.

The notice to Maneka referred to her statements in circulation on social media platforms and alleged that these were “false, malicious and defamatory”, and directed against the society.

ISKCON has asked Maneka to withdraw the remarks unconditionally and express regret for the statements. It has also asked that attempts to make such comments or to publish the same in future should be desisted.

Besides, the organisation has demanded the issuance of an unconditional apology and publication of the same in leading newspapers and social media platforms.
