It's official: Yuzvendra Chahal, Dhanashree Verma finalise divorce

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma have parted ways and are now officially divorced, according to media reports.

The two completed their necessary legal proceedings including the final hearing, and other formalities which took place at the Bandra Family Court on February 20.

The judge, during their hearing, directed the couple to attend a counselling session for a duration of 45 minutes. Both of them told the judge that they were seeking divorce with mutual consent.

The couple also informed the judge that they had been living separately for the last 18 months before their final decision.

When asked by the judge, they said that the main reason for ending their marriage is 'compatibility issues'.

The couple had arrived at the family court around 11 am and the final verdict was pronounced at 4.30 pm.

Declaring that Chahal and Dhanashree are no longer legally wedded husband and wife, the judge granted both the divorce.

Post the legal divorce proceedings, the cricketer and Dhanashree, both, put out cryptic messages on their Instagram stories.

Chahal wrote, "God has protected me more times than I can count. So, I can only imagine the times I've been rescued that I don't even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don’t know it. Amen."

Dhanashree also took to Instagram and wrote, "From stressed to blessed. Isn't amazing how God can turn our worries and trials into blessings? If you're stressing about something today, know that you have a choice. You can either keep worrying, or you can surrender it all to God and choose to pray about everything. There is power in having faith that God can work all things together for your good."

Chahal had married Dhanashree in December 2020 following a relationship that formed during the Covid-19 lockdown. Following their marriage, the duo has been one of the most popular couples on social media.
