<p>A prominent OBC leader and MP, Upendra Kushwaha has resigned from the JD(U) and the Rajya Sabha while accusing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of “running the party undemocratically and failing to fulfill people’s aspiration”. Kushwaha will float his own party on March 3. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Kushwaha belongs to the koeri caste which has a sizable population. The social alliance of Kurmi, Nitish Kumar’s caste, with Koeri has been strong and together they have been successful in usurping political power from the Yadavs, the caste represented by Lalu Prasad.<br /><br /> Kushwaha is opposed to Kumar on the grounds that the latter is not sharing power with representatives of other castes. He had voted in favour of FDI in multi-brand retail during the winter session and was facing action under the anti-defection law. <br /><br />“It is a lie that Bihar is developing. Farmers are suffering and people are migrating from the state. Bihar is back to where it was seven years ago,” he said. <br /><br />He is likely to align with the RJD led by Lalu Prasad Yadav and the LJP led by Ramvilas Paswan. <br /></p>
