31,400 pulse polio booths across State

As part of the pulse polio programme, the Health and Family Welfare Department has opened 31,400 booths across the State to ensure administration of vaccination to 75 lakh children.

To reach its target, the department has formed 49,000 teams with 6,200 supervisors who will monitor one lakh employees who will go on door-to-door visits in their areas on February 25, 26 and 27, to vaccinate children.

V B Patil, Commissioner of the Department, has appealed to the public to bring their children below the age of five to booths to ensure that the country is polio-free.

To create awareness among people, posters and banners have been extensivly put up in public places with assistance from local organisations and Stree Shakti groups, he said.
