<p>Hosapete: The Hampi Utsav ended successfully, with a total of 3.5 lakh to 4 lakh people attending the Utsav over the three days, police sources said.</p><p>On the first day, about 75,000 to 1 lakh people attended, and on the second and third days, 1 lakh to 1.50 lakh people arrived. The total number has not crossed 4 lakh. Last year, about 5 lakh people attended the Usav, according to the police. They arrived at these numbers by calculating the number of cars, bikes in the parking lot, and bus trips.</p><p>On Sunday, there were about 1,000 cars and 4,000 two-wheelers in various parking lots. A total of 40 buses ferried people from Hosapete in five in to six trips. Sources told DH that this number was estimated by counting the locals as well.</p><p><strong>Lack of lighting</strong></p><p>“Hampi Utsav is a festival that is held to shed light on the glorious history of Vijayanagara. However, better lighting at the monuments, Matanga Parvath, Yeduru Basavanna and others should have been done. There was a lot of lighting on the main stage of M P Prakash of Gayatri Peeth, but it is a pity that the same enthusiasm was not shown for lighting the monuments”, many visitors expressed disappointment.</p><p><strong>Less audience</strong></p><p>Though programmes were held at the Mahanavami Dibba Vedike, the number of people who watched the programmes there was low. No effort was made to inform that there was a stage there. Many art lovers said that the reason why many people did not know about the stage could be as it was not visible from the road.</p><p>An average of 4,000 to 5,000 people watched the programmes on the Yeduru Basavanna Vedike. Some suggested that if an effort had been made to show the programmes on the stage inside the Virupaksha Temple on the Rathbedi, a large number of people would have gone there too.</p><p><strong>1,200 people enjoy helicopter rid</strong>e</p><p>This time, 1,200 people had a glimpse of Hampi in two helicopters in three days in ‘Hampi by Sky’, said Tourism Department Deputy Director Prabhulinga Talakeri.</p><p>Last year, 1,056 people had viewed it in two helicopters. Compared to that, this time, a little more people enjoyed the helicopter ride. Last time, the ride was held for almost five days, this time it was held for only three days. The flights started only on the first day, i.e. on February 28, in the afternoon. The helicopters, which flew only five or six times on Monday, ended the flights later due to lack of people.</p>
