451 Covid cases in Karnataka, death toll rises to 7

Bengaluru: The death toll due to Covid in Karnataka increased to seven on Thursday, after a 65-year-old man died in Davanagere and was found to be Covid positive.

According to the department, the man had Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and was admitted to a government hospital on May 24 with a fever, sore throat, breathlessness, and cough. He also had hypertension and diabetes.

He died on May 31 due to cardiopulmonary arrest, aspiration pneumonia, septic shock, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus with an incidental Covid positive status.

As of Thursday, there are 451 active Covid cases in Karnataka, with 61 new positive cases reported in the last 24 hours and 45 recoveries or 'discharges'. Since January this year, Karnataka has reported a total of 796 cases of Covid, including 338 recoveries and seven deaths.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of 644 Covid tests have been conducted, and the state's positivity rate stood at 9.4 per cent, with a case fatality rate of 1.6 per cent.

As of Thursday, there are five patients in hospitals across the state while 446 patients are isolating at home. This includes two patients in the ICU in private hospitals and three patients in general beds in government and private hospitals.
