It is still in use. <br /><br />The train which goes from Chikkaballapur to Dharmapuri via Bangalore, morning and evening, stops for two minutes at this station.<br /><br />Crowded<br /><br />Many people from the surrounding villages including Nandi, Kuppahalli and Deveshettihalli board the train at Nandi railway station to go to Chikkaballpur or Bangalore. It is particularly crowded during the Nandi festival.<br /><br />The surroundings of the railway station is scenic with a huge banyan and other trees and benches to take rest.<br /><br />The train service between Bangalore Mysore started in three phases. From February 1, 1877 to February 21, 1882 the train service commenced between Bangalore and Mysore. It came under the Mysore state in 1911-1912. <br /><br />The narrow gage train service was extended from <br />Bangalore to Chikkaballapur (51.71 kms) and Kolar (102.30 kms).<br /><br />There were railway quarters here for the staff, who use the well water sunk here. <br /><br />However, the quarters are now dilapidated.
