Speaking after inaugurating a workshop on agriculture and technology organised by the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Programme (SKDRDP) in association with Pragathi Bandhu SHGs at Doddapattanagere in Kadur taluk on Saturday, Prasannakumar said that following integrated farming method would reduce the cost of production and increase the profit. The method also can help better the life standards of farmers, he added.

The crisis of food shortage can be sorted out by utilising the natural resources including soil and water. Excessive use of chemical fertilisers decreases the fertility of soil. Simiarly, it also reduces the nutrition in the produce, Prasannakumar said.

PLD Bank former chairman P K Revanna said that the farmers remain economically backward since they were adopting unscientific agriculture methods. Farmers should adopt scientific methods increase yield and develop themselves economically, he suggested.

Moodigere Agriculture University farming expert Dr Basavalingaiah and soil quality test expert spoke on the theme. Taluk panchayat member Chandramouli, SKDRDP convenor Dinesh and gram panchayat president president P R Shekharappa were present.
