<p>Hubballi: Terming the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s move of holding meeting and deciding to bring an ordinance to check harassment by microfinance operators as an ‘eyewash’, Belagavi MP and former CM Jagadish Shettar charged that the Congress government has failed to use existing law which has provisions to take stringent action against microfinances and private money lenders harassing debtors.</p><p>“Harassment to microfinance debtors has increased in recent days, due to the collapse of the state government’s administration. Using the existing law itself, strict action can be taken. There are examples from past. Police officials should be instructed to book criminal cases for harassment,” he said.</p><p>Shettar told reporters in Hubballi that the government should also bring an alternative system for poor and middle class class people to get money for their daily and urgent needs through government institutions.</p><p><strong>High command</strong></p><p>Regarding the dissidence in state BJP, Shettar said the party’s high command is analysing and he expressed confidence that it would sort out everything shortly.</p><p>“When the party grows so big, difference of opinion is natural. But nobody can go above the party policy or discipline. Unlike other parties, BJP is never divided, though individuals go and come. High command will take appropriate action to sort out everything,” he noted.</p><p>Election of the party office-bearers is a process. Taking the opinions of all, the high command will make a unanimous selection of the state president, he said.</p><p>On the for and against views about continuing B Y Vijayendra as state BJP president, Shettar said high command would decide on the issue.</p><p>Congress is igniting fire by saying that former minister B Sriramulu would be welcomed to their party, even after Sriramulu clarifying that he would not join the Congress, Shettar noted.</p><p>Regarding the differences between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress in the I.N.D.I.A bloc, Shettar alleged that AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal went to jail on corruption charges. Congress and Rahul Gandhi’s family are also known for looting the country, due to which they have no morality to speak about corruption, he added.</p>
