<p>Mysuru: MLA <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/tanveer-sait">Tanveer Sait</a>, on Thursday, questioned the conduct of the Police, regarding the case of a person sharing an objectionable meme that was allegedly derogatory against Islam, which led to the attack on Udayagiri Police Station, on Mahadevapura Main Road, in Mysuru, on Monday night.</p><p>Sait’s comment assumes significance as the police station in question is under Narasimharaja Assembly constituency, which he represents. </p><p>The MLA had arrived from Bengaluru on Thursaday after receiving treatment for an ailment ill Wednesday. He speak to the media upon arrival</p><p>“The violence was not because the pictures resembling political leaders Rahul Gandhi, Akhilseh Yadav and Aravind Kejriwal were used. It is because the text used was derogatory against the Prophet. I am not reacting to anybody’s statement. Persons or party are not important in this issue. I am not doing politics with what happened. But, the Police have delayed filing a case against the accused, who share the objectionable meme,” Sait said.</p>.Mysuru: Eight held for attacking Udayagiri police station.<p>Sait said, while the complaint was given in the morning, the FIR was filed only in the evening. “Now, I only appeal to the Police, not to harass innocent people. As soon as a person is arrested by the Police, the person’s parents become helpless. Thus, to assist them, a lawyers’ team has been constituted. Except this, I will not interfere in any issue,” he said.</p><p>“The Police should probe, where was the objectionable meme made and who provoked violence. Why was there a delay in filing the complaint and FIR? How was the behaviour of the Police with those who approached, to file the complaint? Why was there stone-pelting even after the accused was arrested? All these issues should be probed. I will discuss the issue with the Home Minister,” Sait said.</p><p><strong>Demand for second station</strong></p><p>Sait said, he has been demanding a second station for Udayagiri area in Mysuru, since the past five years, but the government is yet to sanction. “Because the jurisdiction of the present Udayagiri Police Station is vast and the population is also dense, there is a need to split the responsibilities and duties of the existing station,” he said.</p>
