<p>Drawings from the 60’s’, an exhibition of drawings by well known artist Ramkumar is a travelling exhibition which was previously held at Aakriti Art Gallery, Kolkata, is now in the city to delight art lovers.<br /><br />Previously unexhibited works, along with the existing collection are part of this exhibition.<br /><br /> The display has been curated by poet and art-critic Prayag Shukla, a close associate of Ramkumar, who has also written extensively on the artist. <br /><br />Regarded as one of the first generation artists of post-independence India, Ramkumar’s contemporaries included names likes MF Husain, FN Souza, SH Raza and Akbar Padamsee.<br /><br /> The artist’s artistic journey began at Sharada Ukil school of Art from where he later went to Paris and trained under Andre Lhote and Fernand Legar.<br /><br />The 20th century modernism in Paris, Vienna and London served as an inspiration for him, combined with inherent Indianness.<br /><br /> Ramkumar as an artist has evolved from his short-lived figurative phase into a master of abstractions.<br /><br /> The drawings of Ramkumar reflect sheer beauty through perfect lines, creating an experience for the viewers.<br /><br />Drawings presented in the show are a sensitive charting of the happenings around in fine lines. <br /><br />They speak volumes about Ramkumar’s delicate artwork. These drawings will take the viewers into a memorable, colourful journey of the artist and engage them with his thoughts and view of life.</p>.<p> The exhibition provides a glimpse of Ramkumar’s works which directly connect with one’s inner self and reveal a world of infinite depth and beauty.<br /><br />The exhibition is on till November 29 at the Aakriti Art Gallery, F-213/A, Old MB Road, Lado Sarai from 11 am to 7 pm. </p>
