Alcoholics Anonymous marks 60 years of service in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), the global fellowship supporting individuals in recovery from alcoholism, is celebrating its 60th anniversary in Bengaluru on December 15.

AA operates in over 180 countries, with nearly 40 lakh members worldwide. In Bengaluru, the fellowship serves around 5,000 recovering alcoholics and organises several daily meetings to help individuals overcome alcoholism.

"Our meetings are free, and there are no dues or application forms. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking,” says Rocky, an area delegate of AA.

At the heart of AA’s philosophy is its 12-step programme, a structured framework designed to help individuals address their addiction and rebuild their lives. The fellowship is committed to maintaining strict anonymity and operates on principles of non-politicism and self-support.

The 60th-anniversary event will feature reflections on AA’s journey, inspiring testimonials from members, and discussions on the fellowship’s impact.
