BBMP collects Rs 4,930 cr property tax in FY 2024-25

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has collected Rs 4,930 crore in property tax for the financial year 2024–25 — an increase of about Rs 1,000 crore compared to the previous fiscal.

The milestone was achieved through several initiatives, including the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, IT-based follow-ups for arrears recovery, the implementation of a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to recover dues, and door-to-door visits.

These efforts were led by Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner of Revenue, BBMP.

Overall, the BBMP’s Revenue Department achieved 94.62% of its annual target of Rs 5,210 crore.

Among the zones, Mahadevapura contributed the highest — Rs 1,310 crore — followed by the East Zone with Rs 834 crore, and the South Zone with Rs 733 crore. Yelahanka outperformed expectations by collecting Rs 464.66 crore, surpassing its target.

In the new financial year, the BBMP aims to generate Rs 6,000 crore in property tax revenue, of which around Rs 750 crore is expected from the newly introduced Solid Waste Management (SWM) user fee.
