<p>Bengaluru: <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/namma-metro">Namma Metro</a>'s ridership crossed the one-million mark for the first time on Monday as Bengalureans flocked to ride on the newly launched Yellow Line. </p><p>A total of 10,48,031 rides were reported on metro trains, surpassing the previous high of 9,66,732 recorded during the RCB's IPL celebrations on June 4. </p><p>The 19.15-km Yellow Line connects RV Road with Bommasandra via the tech hub of Electronics City. </p><p>Despite Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) operating only three trains every 25 minutes on the Yellow Line, commuters seem unfazed by the low frequency. </p>.First day first ride on the Namma Metro Yellow Line.<p>Many turned up to experience metro connectivity to a part of the city notorious for traffic congestion. </p><p>The Yellow Line has been warmly received by thousands of professionals working in technology companies located in and around Electronics City. Many expressed relief at bypassing the notorious intersection of Central Silk Board. </p><p>BMRCL Chief Public Relations Officer B L Yashavanth Chavan said such high ridership on the launch day was not unusual. </p><p>"We usually see a spike in passenger numbers during the initial days of a new line. We'll have to evaluate traffic patterns for several weeks to arrive at a more accurate number," he told <em>DH</em>. </p><p>The BMRCL expects rather modest ridership on the Yellow Line in the near term.
