Bescom to host EV expo for secretariat staff

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) will host a special electric vehicle (EV) expo exclusively for secretariat staff on Friday and Saturday near the Vidhana Soudha to promote EV adoption.

The event will be inaugurated by Energy Minister KJ George, with Chief Secretary to the Government Shalini Rajneesh and Additional Chief Secretary to the Energy Department Gaurav Gupta also in attendance.

“Leading EV manufacturers will participate in the expo, offering vehicles at special discounted rates exclusively for secretariat officials and staff. We encourage all secretariat employees to participate in large numbers and make the most of this opportunity,” said Bescom Managing Director Mahantesh Bilagi.

The vehicles purchased at the expo will be tax-exempt, and employees will also have access to low-interest loan facilities.

The initiative aims to tackle rising air pollution and high fuel costs by encouraging the transition to electric vehicles. By facilitating EV adoption among government staff, Bescom hopes to set a precedent for sustainable transportation solutions in Bengaluru.
