<p>Bengaluru: <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tag/Bengaluru">Bengaluru </a>Police have arrested a 30-year-old man from Bihar for attacking and maiming three cows in Old Pension Mohalla, Chamarajpet, during the early hours of January 12.</p><p>The police stated that the man, Sheikh Nasru, reportedly intoxicated at the time, used a sharp blade to slash the udders of the cows.</p><p>Nasru has been booked under Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and IPC Section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal). A court has remanded him to judicial custody until January 24.</p><p>The incident took a political turn as the BJP threatened to observe ‘Black Sankranti’ if no action was taken.</p><p>The cows' owner, Karna G, 56, is reportedly associated with the RSS, although the police have not confirmed this claim.</p><p>Karna, who owns eight cows, had tied four of them behind a nearby temple due to limited space at his residence. On the morning of January 12, he discovered one cow with a missing teat and damaged udder, another with injuries to its udder and leg, and a third with slash marks on a teat. Arrest the shop owner, too," Karna demanded.</p><p>Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S Girish confirmed that the injured cows are out of danger after receiving treatment and stated that no others were found to be involved. The police have ruled out mental instability or any criminal history for Nasru, who came to Bengaluru three years ago from Champaran, Bihar.</p><p>Nasru worked as a daily wage labourer and had recently been employed as a helper at the stitching shop. The police continue to investigate, but have found no evidence of additional suspects in the case.</p>
