Bomb threat to Bengaluru schools, premises vacated

One of the schools is located in Babusabpalya in Kalyan Nagar and another is located at Huskur in Electronics City

Six schools in Bengaluru have received a bomb threat on Friday morning. The Bengaluru City Police have rushed to the two respective spots, along with a bomb disposal squad to carry out further search operations.

A senior official said that the threat message regarding the planted bombs was sent via email.

Speaking to Deccan Herald at one of the schools, Vasanth Kumar, inspector Hennur Police station, said that from 11:00 am within a span of 10 minutes, about 54 emails were sent to the management of the school.

Following the messages, tension gripped all the schools, and the premises were vacated. The police were alerted and they arrived soon after at the schools and are verifying the veracity of the emails.

54 police personnel, including senior police officers and, a bomb squad and dog squad are present at the location.

Inspector Vasanth also shared details of the email with DH, which read, "A very powerful bomb has been planted in your school. Attention, this is not a joke. Call the police immediately. Hundreds of lives may suffer, including yours. Do not delay. Everything is in your hands."

"Investigations are in full swing to understand who is behind this email. We will get to the bottom of things," City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant told Deccan Herald.
