Citizens can now reserve online saplings they prefer from the six nurseries of the forest department.
The department, along with NGO 'Lets Endorse', will launch the ‘Hasiru’ initiative by the next week, whereby one can book a sapling through www.letsendorse.com. The department is giving the plants at subsidised rates, with each sapling costing between Re 1 and Rs 3.
Speaking to DH, Dipika Bajpai, deputy conservator of forests, said: “The Hasiru initiative will be launched next week. The forest department is already distributing the saplings through nurseries offline, but people can now book saplings online.” The online portal also provides information about the available variety of plants in each nursery. A minimum billing of Rs 10 is required to complete the booking on this portal.
