<p>Bengaluru: The BWSSB has announced spot fines as a precautionary measure to prevent the wastage of drinking water, citing receding groundwater levels and the upcoming dry months.</p>.<p>"The order aims to ensure adequate water supply for Bengaluru's population, estimated at 1.4 crore. It is enforced under the BWSSB Act-1964, Sections 33 and 34," the board stated.</p>.BBMP to hand over borewells, RO plants to BWSSB .<p>The BWSSB has banned the use of potable water for several activities, including the cleaning of vehicles, gardening, building construction, the use of fountains, non-drinking purposes in malls and cinema halls, and cleaning and constructing roads.</p>.<p>Violators will be fined Rs 5,000 and repeat offenders will incur an additional Rs 500 penalty per day along with the initial fine.</p>
