KSRTC employees undergo cancer screening on World Cancer Day

Bengaluru: Over 1,000 KSRTC employees underwent oral and breast cancer screenings on Tuesday on the occasion of World Cancer Day. 

V Anbukumar, Managing Director, KSRTC, emphasised the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, and regular screenings. He instructed the officials concerned to organise similar cancer screening camps in all KSRTC divisions in the coming days. 

Dr Naveen Bhat, Administrator, Kidwai Memorial Cancer Institute, noted the rising incidents of cervical cancer and advised women to undergo a Pap smear test annually to detect the disease in its early or second stage. 

Manisha Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, HCG Cancer Hospital, which organised the screenings, said one in nine women was affected by cervical cancer and early detection was crucial for effective treatment.
