CM Siddaramaiah slams BJP legislators’ absence at Greater Bengaluru Authority meeting

Bengaluru: Expressing his disappointment with the BJP legislators’ truancy at the first meeting of the newly-formed Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Chief Minister Siddaramaiah opined that they were opposed to the capital city’s development.

“If BJP representatives are concerned about Bengaluru’s development, they should not have been absent at the GBA meeting. GBA is a democratic forum. Their absence shows that they are against decentralisation of the city’s administration,” said Siddaramaiah.

Reminding the BJP that decentralising the city’s administration was an idea the saffron party had initially floated, the CM added, “Citing the growth of the city beyond its borders, and stressing the need for good administration, it was the BJP that first proposed decentralisation, but the party is now opposed to it.”
