Delivery boy's murder in Bengaluru: Police crack case, arrest four

Bengaluru: The Devanahalli police have arrested four people for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a 19-year-old boy on the city outskirts, officials said on Monday.

The arrested are Srikanth, 22, Sanjay, 23, Charan, 21, and Shivakumar, 22. The police said that Srikanth was the prime suspect, and the motive was that the deceased, Preetham R, took a liking to a girl related to him.

Preetham worked as a delivery executive for a quick commerce firm.

Preetham’s father, Ramachandra, in his complaint had told the police that one of his son's friends, Moni, informed him that Preetham liked a girl from Gantiganahalli.

The police found that a week ago, Srikanth had beaten up Preetham and asked him to stay away from her.

On May 2, around 10.30 pm, the four suspects, including Srikanth, kidnapped Preetham, beat him and dumped his body behind the Government Lower Primary School in Niragantepalya. It was found the following day by a passerby who informed the police.

The four have been booked for kidnapping and murder, and are currently remanded in judicial custody.
