<p>Bengaluru: Elizabeth Cherian took charge on Sunday as the first woman District Governor of Rotary International District 3192, which covers nearly 86 clubs and over 3,500 members across Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka.</p>.<p>Elizabeth, outlining her plans, said her focus would be on the holistic wellness of Rotarians and collaborating with civic agencies for animal welfare initiatives.</p>.<p>"There are many discussions about treatment options, but little on disease prevention. I want to conduct wellness programmes to keep members in good health,” she said.</p>.<p>She also plans to refurbish city parks and work with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on animal welfare projects. “We plan to launch Karunya, an animal welfare initiative, improve shelter homes, and support the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme."</p>.<p>Elizabeth believes residents of Bengaluru should know basic Kannada and intends to organise online language classes for members.</p>.<p>She also aims to boost women’s participation in Rotary activities and encourage them to take on leadership roles.</p>
